A sure sign of loving a book is when you can't wait to get back to it after you put it down! I loved this book! The only part I thought was a bit of a drag was the main character, Matt, who was a bit "doom and gloom." Apparently I have to read the first one to understand why!
Awesome! This by far my favourite book so far. Great storytelling and action packed. I couldn't put it down!
I really like how the scientific parts sucked me into the book. I mean, at some points I honestly thought that there could be little white plankton-like creatures in the sky that were food for those squid-like floating things! I must have just read that non-fiction Strange New Species book or something... as they say in Skybreaker, if there are so many creatures undiscovered on land, who's to say that there aren't as many creatures undiscovered in our skies?
I've got to read this book. Who has it out??????????
The most exiting novel that Kenneth Oppel has ever written. I've read ALL of his books, too. My dad literally had to drag the book away from me so that I could go to bed. Even better than the first one. I sort of think that Oppel was planning to use this idea first, but found another that introduced the characters better. Hal Slater was a very slippery character. I really liked some of Grunel's inventions, like the brain searcher and the vivarium was also really well described. The origin of Matt Cruse's name came through to me in this book. It said way more plainly that he was born in the air. EVERYONE in Red Cedar should read this book. It's totally awesome. I'm going to have A really hard time voting for the book award. Thank Goodness I chose Non- fiction also. I'll never be able to decide!

Somehow that doesn't surprise me, Martha, that your dad had to grab the book from your clutching hands in order for you to sleep! Ha ha.
Yes, I agree that the description was top-notch in this novel. I felt like I was right there with them in the vivarium. Very cool.
Didn't you think the ending was very James Bondish? I had the same sort of feeling- hanging on to the edge of my seat, totally absorbed in the action, with momentary "yah, right, like THAT could ever happen!" thoughts. Great adventures are like that, though... the characters are placed in such extreme situations that you need to suspend belief!
I read this book and the first one in grade four. I got hooked on Airborne so I just HAD to read Skybreaker. I agree 2 what Martha said, EVERYONE should read both novels in this series.
